The hackathon

One of the best ways to have a hacking great experience is to spend a few hours before the event to think about what you want to build. Often the best ideas are those that do not normally work. One of the advantages of an event like this is able to work with others who complement your skill sets.

Have an idea of what you want to work? Please throw on the wiki below along with your name and what aspect (s) of project you want to contribute.

See an interesting idea? Edit the wiki to add your name to it and also share what aspect (s) of project you want to contribute.

Awards!

No hackathon is complete without some great prizes. After brunch on Sunday all teams will have the opportunity to share what I worked. We are putting together a great panel of judges for the awards and these are some of the criteria will think:

  • originality of idea / concept behind implementation (eg innovative, original, significant improvement on an app already available)
  • market potential of implementation (eg how big is the target segment, advertisers are paying for it, etc.)
  • to measure aspects of the implementation (eg, custom features per user)
  • usefulness of implementation (eg, increases efficiency, solves a problem, etc.)
  • intuitiveness and ease of implementation (eg ease of navigation)
  • potential for further development of implementation (eg adding new levels, themes, etc.)

Hackathon project ideas

Link to your ideas hackathon (create each project idea as a new page, then link to it below).

Please include a summary of this idea, what skills you have and what you need (or be part of a team) on each page

What's the time line and exact agenda? Is there a demo on Sunday? When is the deadline to submit the app? Detail please? Thanks!

Thanks, Matt. Still needing info:

1) Can participants stay overnight in the building?
2) Hacking time: It's an extremely short time frame for hacking - from 5pm to 9am. Which probably means there is not much time for applications to be hacked and launched.
3) Format of final demo: Due to the short time for real hacking, do you accept people who just hatch (not hack) some kind of power point stuff?

1) Absolutely. We'll be hacking through the night and anyone is welcome to stay for the duration of the Hackathon. Good eats and drinks will be provided to keep the hackers fueled throughout the night.
2) We don't expect a fully launched and polished final product to come out of a few short hours, but what we're looking for a great idea and prototype hack demo of your project.
3) Hatch is good, hack prototype will get extra points.
